Adoptable Cats

Call the shelter at 574-936-8300 for any questions about the animals below!

Pets shown here may have been adopted.  But, there are always others at the shelter just waiting for a family of their own!
If you are interested in a specific pet, you should call ahead to see if that pet is still available.

Current Adoption Fees:
Cats: $40
Kittens: $25
**You will be responsible for getting your kitten fixed through our foster to adopt program. This is typically the case when cats are too young to be fixed before leaving the shelter.
Please bring a cat carrier when coming to adopt a cat!

For applications we do check with your vet that your current pets are up to date on rabies and spayed/neutered in order to approve you. We often check your past history of pets to be sure you are a responsible pet owner. This is our policy and it will not be changing. If you rent and do not provide your landlord's name and contact information, your application will be bypassed and not approved. Typically you don't own your place if the address is an apartment complex. We have also started checking addresses due to being provided with false information. We like to respect landlords wishes in hopes those who do allow pets, continue to allow them with their honest tenants and trust us when adopting to them

Jane
Jane is 2 year old, spayed female! She has a very sweet and loving personality. She gets along with most others and is a cuddly girl!
Picture
Bobo & Bubba
Bobo is estimated around 3 years of age, and he's neutered. He's a sweet and silly guy! He came in with Bubba.
Bubba is about a 1 1/2 years old, he's neutered and up to date.
These boys may not be biological brothers, but we consider them brothers, and a bonded pair. We don't get many bonded pairs, but it's become clear that Bubba is very dependent on Bobo, and Bobo is great at cuddling him and making him feel at home. Bubba takes awhile to come around as is, but seemed to be lost without Bobo when they weren't sharing a kennel after recovering from their neuter. They're looking for a forever home that will welcome them together!

Stanley
Stanley was brought in as a cat who used to roam the neighborhood, but unfortunately kept getting injured. A concerned neighbor brought him in and he's healing up nicely. The scars on his face are almost completely healed, a few injuries on his legs and back paw are still healing, but nothing to worry about. It might be just because he's so used to being on the defense from living outside, but he's not a huge fan of the other cats. We're still letting him decompress, but as of now it's best be adopted as the only pet. Stanley is up to date one vaccines and neutered!

Henry
Henry came in as a stray back in January. He was nearly frozen and we had never seen a cat so skinny. From the day he came in, we knew he had the fight in him that was needed to recover and we gave him that chance. The lady who found him said he was hiding under her porch and attacked her little dog! After examining Henry we noticed he was neutered. To us he seemed to have been somebody's cat before and then left to fend for himself. So no one blamed him for feeling the need to fight off dogs, big or little, to protect himself. Because of this, Henry still tries to fight any and all dogs he sees. While it can be quite amusing (he thinks he's super tough), he needs a home where no dogs will ever be! When he can't fight the dog in his sight, he enjoys swatting my foot to get out the urge of beating up the dog.
Not only did Henry come in cold and nearly nothing but skin and bones, but his teeth were a big issue. His bloodwork was abnormal, but we knew a lot of it would change as he recovered. We watched to make sure he wasn't anemic or had any severe issues with his kidneys. (Luckily now that he's made it through the worst, his levels are currently normal.) When he came in he was not in shape to undergo any type of surgery. After a month of putting on weight, receiving daily IV fluids, wash cloth baths, and tons of TLC, he finally weighed enough for a dental. I was worried all day, but knew he was in good hands. Henry had most of his teeth removed due to severe infection. Recovery from his dental was a few weeks! We were making daily watery wet food soups for him, more daily IV fluids, more wash cloth baths to clean up his messy face while he got used to eating without much teeth, and pain meds! By the end of April he was finally eating hard food again, along with his twice daily wet food meals! He has shown signs of arthritis, but nothing that has needed medication. We feed Henry senior food, wet food that's good for his GI tract, and any lick-able treats he chooses for the day. Henry is estimated to be at least 12 years old, and there's a chance he could be anywhere from 12-15 years old.

This guy came in and made it clear wasn't done with life and we listened. We're here to make sure he finds the best home for the rest of his years. Henry currently lives in my office/the entire room to the right when you walk into the shelter. You could say he has his own suite! He has his window bed, cat towers, and he's taken over my office chair. We knew his recovery would be more than just a few weeks so we wanted to make sure he was comfortable through it all.

It's been highly considered making him another office/shelter cat, but a home where he will never see another dog again is more than ideal! He doesn't seem to mind other cats, but prefers that they leave him alone. We also know there's more cats out there like Henry who will need this space someday. Henry deserves to live out his life in a home where he will get all these love he needs, on his own terms of course.
Please know that, although he's cute, he needs a home that understands the responsibilities of adopting a senior cat. Henry is doing great right now, but does need monitored for any setbacks. He needs adopters who are willing to work with their vet to set a plan in place to keep him healthy and happy for as long as they can!
