Adoptable Dogs
Call the shelter at 574-936-8300 for any questions about the animals below!

Pets shown here may have been adopted.  But, there are always others at the shelter just waiting for a family of their own!
If you are interested in a specific pet, you should call ahead to see if that pet is still available.
Current Adoption Fees:
Dogs: $80

**You will be responsible for getting your dog fixed through our foster to adopt program. This is typically the case when dogs are too young to be fixed before leaving the shelter.

For applications we do check with your vet that your current pets are up to date on rabies and spayed/neutered in order to approve you. We often check your past history of pets to be sure you are a responsible pet owner. This is our policy and it will not be changing. If you rent and do not provide your landlord's name and contact information, your application will be bypassed and not approved. Typically you don't own your place if the address is an apartment complex. We have also started checking addresses due to being provided with false information. We like to respect landlords wishes in hopes those who do allow pets, continue to allow them with their honest tenants and trust us when adopting to them.

We are doing everything we can to keep this page as updated as possible. We've recently taken in large amounts of animals at a time a time and like to get to know each of them before posting descriptions. We are also active with our Facebook page to try and find the owner of animals brought to us prior to posting for adoption. Animals on this page may already be adopted, or in the process of being adopted, we like to give each adoption a few days before posting to make sure it's the right fit. Even if an adoption is pending, we still welcome you to apply in case it falls through or isn't the right fit. Thank you for understanding! You're always welcome to call (leave a voicemail if no answer) or email us with any questions!!
Yes, our public hours are limited, but with an approved application, we make after hours appointments for one on one meet and greets! *Having an approved application does not obligate you to take an animal*

Faline
Faline is now our longest resident, she’s been with us for almost 300 days. She is looking for a home where she can be the only pet, and be treated like the princess she is! She struggles with missing her human way too much when she’s alone. So a home where her human is home a lot is ideal. We believe crate training will help! Faline is also asking for a human with patience to help her learn that it’s okay to be alone sometimes.
If you're searching for a dog who will greet you with enthusiasm every day and fill your life with love, Faline is your girl! She is a volunteer favorite because she walks so great on a leash, rides great in a car, and is so loving!
Faline is around 3 years of age, mixed breed, about 50 pounds, spayed, and up to date on vaccines!

Her vetting was generously sponsored in loving memory of Aneisha Himes!
In hopes of helping find her forever home, her adoption fee has generously been sponsored, from the Montgomery family in memory of Hoosier!

Delilah
Delilah is a young adult pit mix. She came in as a stray in ROUGH shape. Bald patches, skin irritation, swollen ears, cuts and scrapes, etc. After a flea treatment and much needed bath, she's a whole new dog, and she's still healing! We switched her to a skin sensitive food and are applying ear medication, and we're already seeing a difference. She's a total sweetheart and deserves so much better than whatever she had before. Please stop in and meet with Delilah, she'll win you over with one tail wag!

Thank you to her sponsor, Aaron's Perfect Cut Tree Service, for sponsoring her complete vetting! She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and 100% ready to find her forever home!

Lafayette
Lafayette and Napoleon - These two hound mixes came in together as strays and were never claimed. So they are now looking for their forever homes!
Both of these boys are super sweet and will make you laugh with their hound personalities! They are both potty trained and keep their spaces very clean. They also know that you mean business when you have a treat in your hand!
They are not a bonded pair, so we don’t require them to go to a home together, but we wouldn’t blame you if you couldn’t resist their charm and take them both.

Thank you to Kate & Friends for sponsoring his full vetting! Lafayette is neuter, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and tested for HW and lymes!
Lafayette did test positive for lymes, but is being treated on a course of antibiotics.

Storm
Storm is 1-2 years old! Storm has come a long way since coming to us. Him and his brother had been on the run since October before they were able to trapped about a month ago.
Neither of them could walk on a leash and were terrified of everything. We have finally gained their trust and Storm is walking on a leash! He’s still nervous of anything new, so he may put his breaks on when he’s unsure. He now runs up to us with excitement and asks us for affection. We are so proud of how far he’s come!
With his past, he’s looking for an experienced adopter. Small children aren’t recommended because they scare him and we don’t want to have a set back in how far he’s come. Storm does not like cats, but does seem to like most other dogs. We’d say he’s dog selective, so a meet and greet will be required. Until he’s 100% bonded, Storm will need a home where he has a secured fenced yard or someone willing to securely leash walk him when outside. He may require some help to learn how to be a normal dog, but your patience will be rewarded with all the love this guy has to give.
Thank you to his sponsor, AK Industries, for sponsoring his vetting! Storm has been neutered, HW and lymes tested, updated on vaccines, and microchipped!

Bono
Bono is about 5 years old! He’s a very handsome mixed breed, neutered male. Bono was picked up as a stray and had a nasty cut on his back. No owner came forward and we got him the medical attention he needed. The skin in between the cuts had began to die, so after cutting away the dead skin, cleaning it up, and a couple weeks of sutures (and a much needed cone), Bono has healed up perfectly! We celebrated the last day of a cone with some very deserved fetch time. He absolutely loves fetch, and enjoys playing with the hose! Bono can be dog selective, so a meet and greet with other dogs is recommended. He gets along with most, but there’s a couple here that don’t like him and he feels the same way about them. Keep in mind it could always just be the kennel environment. Don’t judge a dog by their kennel presence, it can be stressful, and doesn’t show their true potential.
Bono’s complete vetting has been sponsored by Auto Park! Bono is neutered, HW & lymes disease tested, up dated on vaccines, and microchipped!

Sally
Sally is a lab mix, about 3 years old! She has been the perfect lady at the shelter, totally housebroken. Sally was previously adopted from us and then returned last year - she had a scuffle with the neighborhood dog, in all fairness it did come on to her property, but she has proven to be a protector of her area. Because of this we are looking for a home where Sally will have a fenced in yard to prevent any incidents in the future. We also prefer she be an only dog, as we think it is what's best for her. She has so much love to give and is so deserving of receiving love herself. She is treat and ball motivated! She can never get enough of fetch! She is truly an amazing dog, she just needs someone to commit to her the way she deserves! If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion then Sally is your girl!

Loki
Loki is a young pittie. He was locked in a crate and abandoned in a trailer. Ikki and Max were also abandoned in the same trailer. The crate Loki was in was very disgusting and it was obvious he'd been in there at least a couple days. He was very skinny and scared when we went to go get him. He takes a little bit to warm up because of his past, but once he knows he can trust you, he is one silly boy! Loki will require a home with experience in owning pitbulls. He's a young boy who was never shown love or taught basic commands. A home with patience and the ability to offer firm, but loving, discipline
while he learns his manners!

Drake
Drake is a one year old pittie! He is a neutered male and sooo handsome! Drake was picked up as a stray wearing a ratchet strap as a harness. It was quickly cut off. We had quite a few people reach out saying they knew where he came from. Four different possible owners, four different possible names for Drake, and four different stories. We believe we know who his owner is, but they have not come forward, and it’s time for Drake to find his forever home. Where he can write the best part of his story, one that is full of love. He is full of love and deserves to receive that love and so much more in return! He wasn’t a fan at first of having to ride in the back. He wanted to be next to me and lovingly placed his head on my shoulder while I drove. He knew he was safe. He now rides very nicely in the van! We don’t use a crate for him because he enjoys sitting on the seat and looking out the window.
Drake loves to run around and play, and is very affectionate. He seems to get along with most other dogs, but we always recommend a meet and greet!
Thank you to his sponsor, AK Industries, for sponsoring his complete vetting! Drake has been neutered, HW & lyme disease tested, up dated on vaccines, and microchipped!

Raya is a blue heeler, about 1 year old!

Scooby
Scooby needs a new home!
Scooby is a 3 year old neutered male! He is up to date on vaccinations and gets along with other dogs. We are told he’s good around cats and children too!
His family will be moving in a couple months and cannot take him with. We are too full at the shelter to take him in, but are happy to help by posting him for adoption.
Please fill out an adoption application if you think Scooby could be a good fit for you! We will arrange a meet and greet with his current owners.

We wish to thank the following monthly sponsors for paying for our animals vetting. They are saving lives by doing so!
