Did you know we offer a "Senior" Discount

~ Events ~

We have lowered our fees for Senior Pets
We have lowered our adoption fee for senior cats and dogs.  Our regular fee is $55 for a dog, and $40 for a cat.  If you adopt a pet over 5 years old, we will lower the fee by $10.  If that senior pet is already neutered, another $5 will be deducted, for a total possible savings of $15.  In addition, for senior citizens who adopt one of these senior pets, we will allow another $5 off the fee.  Senior pets, who through no fault of their own find themselves homeless, are in many cases already housebroken, and are usually quite well-mannered.  They are certainly very deserving of a loving home, and we want to give them every opportunity to find one.  If you are interested in one of our adult pets, ask if he or she qualifies for the "Senior Discount".

Low Cost Spay/Neuter
Michiana has a new low-cost spay/neuter clinic - the ABC Clinic!  Both cats and dogs are eligible.
Get the whole scoop by checking out their web site.

We have had trouble getting Neuter Scooter to come to our area because of the lack of a facility that fits their requirements.  The ABC Clinic is a great alternative.

Marshall County Humane Society is now offering free transport to and from the ABC Clinic for a limited number of pets once a month.  This is on a first come first served basis.  The pet owner is responsible for paying all fees to the ABC Clinic, for having the animal at the shelter at 5:30am on the morning of the scheduled surgery, and for promptly picking it up again at the shelter at the scheduled time in the late afternoon.  Spaces on the bus are limited, so don't delay calling the shelter for your appointment.  574-936-8300

Thanks to several generous donations, the new Puppy Plan Pen has been installed at the shelter.  Volunteers can now allow the dogs to run and play off leash when taking them out for their walks.

Teach Kids to Care   ~  Adopt-A-Classroom
Helping stray, abused, and abandoned animals in our community is our number-one goal. But rescuing, sheltering and adopting animals isnít enough. We also need to teach our youngest citizens the basics of responsible pet care and the value of treating people and animals with kindness and respect. Thatís why your support for our Adopt-A-Classroom is so vital.

For each $30 tax-deductible contribution you make to our Adopt-A-Classroom program, youíll provide an entire Marshall County elementary school classroom with Kind News, an award-winning classroom newspaper that teaches children to be kind to people, animals, and the earth.

Last year we were able to supply Kind News to every first grader in Marshall County - 36 classroom  subscriptions in all. If you would like to help the Adopt-a-Classroom program, please call the shelter at 574-936-8300 and help keep this program going for the
coming school year.
